1.
when you told me you’d miss me as sure as the sky is grey, you do i remember dismissing the future approaching uncertainty as recklessly as always i’ll be there soon out there with you we’ll talk awkwardly, i’m sure catching up after weird endless months disorienting, how did the future get here? when you told me you’d find me as sure as the day is here, you did you spoke of numbers, a path to the future approaching uncertainty as recklessly as me
2.
there’s only one road into your town i couldn’t handle that, i’d need some way out not traveling much but not for long we’ll get it together, find a road to get on i’ve heard these tales of times that have passed i’ve seen the old world, the ghosts of what you had went on forever, then forever finally ended things got harder even if no one meant it the wind whips through, fighting with the trees the road crumbles, gives way beneath our feet i’ll ride with this caravan, i’ll be someone who stays i’ll believe it all and earn my place
3.
snowing in april, the cold is holding on couldn’t tell you what day it is i’m in no rush to get out there we’ve made it through the worst of this and our lost year gets farther away every day tending a garden, or at least i’m trying i’ll see what lives and what grows learning in pieces and always assuming i’m catching up with what everyone knows and i lost time but found a little today don’t blame the sun for hiding away or the clouds for taking up space i’ll find meaning if i travel far enough ride the stars, get back to the same place and i’ll make up for it all someday
4.
hands on my face, i’m sinking in slowly i have time to think about what i’m doing living in my head, making a lovely home here i swear i’m trying to find you some room i remember going home, wherever that would be and the muddy days before i had to care memories in pieces, i guess it’s not so bad i’ve tried to pick and choose who lives there the flickering projector, the screen as big as life some tastes i’m sure i owe to you is my memory in movies, and is that so bad it’s been so long, so long overdue
